As a self-taught filmmaker Kieran's short films essentially represent his industry apprenticeship. He tried to make each successive film a little more complex or difficult than its predecessor - sometimes it meant a larger cast, more locations, or a more ambitious visual style, but other times it was just down to logistics, money and timing. The styles of the films are all a little different, representing experimentation with different ideas as he always let the story dictate the style rather than try to superimpose a pre-detremined look or feel over the narrative.
For Kieran, filmmaking is storytelling. Therefore the narrative is paramount.
These films have screened at around 130 (mostly international) film festivals in Australia, Europe, the USA and South America, picking up several 'Best Film' awards as well as various craft awards.
